Hi everyone,
I recently got selected for an English teacher position at Peppy Kids Club (PKC) and I m really excited about this opportunity!
During the application process, I mentioned that I am open to any location (but also, I had indicated that I’d like to be placed in or near a city). They also asked whether I prefer a warmer or colder area and I said “warmer” at the time (honestly, I didn’t think too deeply about it then maybe I just felt warmer places are more active and lively).
However, now that I m thinking more practically I do have a concern. I understand that placements are usually not in major cities like Tokyo or Osaka, which is completely fine. But I would really prefer to be placed somewhere that is at least somewhat lively or closer to a city area rather than a very rural, inaka side location. I hold JLPT N2, so I wonder if that increases the likelihood of being placed in an inaka area.
One of my main worries is safety and commuting. Working hours will be around 1 PM to 10 or even 11 PM, which means I might be traveling back home late at night. As someone who will be living alone abroad for the first time, I feel a bit anxious about commuting in dark, quiet areas if the location is too rural.
I would be grateful for any advice, suggestions, guidance or insights you can share.
Also, if anyone is currently working with PKC or has worked there before I’d love to connect and talk about your experience especially regarding location and daily life.
Thankyou 🙂
Slightly off-topic, but they are offering ¥240,000 per month with commuting expenses reimbursed. I was wondering if this would be sufficient for living and occasional travel in Japan.
Also, do most companies no longer provide flight ticket reimbursement or does it vary?
