Registering Japan address with a UK bank

UK bank i have an account with have some how come to think i am living overseas (i am, in Japan). They want to register my Japan address as my home address.

They only accept utilities bills, letters from other banks, sent to my japan address by post, as documentary evidence. They may accept a foreign driving license if address is on it.

However, here’s the catch, their ‘know your customer’ security team will not deal with Japanese or other non alphabet scripts.

I therefore need to provide a utilities bill or bank letter sent to me in japan but addressed in English!!

That is basically impossible to arrange.

If i don’t provide satisfactory residence address proof by mid May they will lock the account. Then after 3-4 months move to close it.

Anyone had a similar situation and worked out a way to get the UK bank what it needs?? One idea i have is to get my drivers license officially translated by an approved agency, but not sure that will even work.

Ideas welcome!
