I came to Japan on a student visa and just got my JP Bank account number and cash card.
I have received some notification from my university as well as the bank about being a non-resident status for 6 months or till i get a part time job.
But the way they have put it is very confusing. I am getting the gist that there will be some restriction for bank transfers, withdrawals and so on and that all transfer will count as remittance and thus be charged a fee (7500 yen) maybe. But I'm not fully understanding it.
I am supposed to pay my tuition and rent through bank transfers so does it mean I'll be charged this fee everytime?
They have also mentioned two criteria for non resident status:
1) Those who do not have an address and have an occupation that needs long term residence in Japan (I have both since I'm on long term student visa)
2) foreign customers who do not have a part time job or have not been in Japan for more than 6 months. (Again me)
So I am eligible to have a resident status according to point 1 but again ineligible according to point 2
I can't understand what's happening and what should I expect. Thanks for the help.
