Hey guys
Yesterday my colleague asked me to fix some bugs and shared the fixed version with him when it’s done.
This morning he asked me about the progress, and I replied “I am working on it” in Japanese which is “今修正しています”.
He started questioning me why didn’t I share the fixed version with him!?
I said I know!!! I will send you when it’s done, but I am still working it!!!
And he was kind of mad, and kept saying you said you have done the fixing, you should share the program!!!
In the end, I found out that “今修正しています” doesn’t mean “I am working on it”. It means “It’s done”🤯🤯🤯…
This is the first time I’ve heard of it….cuz what I’ve learned from textbook“しています” means “doing something”….this really opened my mind.
I think I should throw away my Japanese textbook ha….

When we were arguing what しています means, he even said no one is using “finishing” in English always should be “have finished” or “have been finished”. I said I usually use “finishing” while talking to my US folks. He then said I’m wrong.
It’s kind of hilarious that my English proficiency is questioned by a 60 year old man that barely could speak English in a sentence.😂😂😂
