The Situation: I am a graduating Mechanical Engineering student from Mapúa. I finish in October 2026.
My Goal: Secure an engineering job in Japan by early 2027. My ultimate career priorities are high salary.
Path A: Skip the Philippine Board Exam entirely. Enroll in a full-time, intensive Japanese language school from now until December to hit JLPT N3.
Path B: Delay learning Japanese and focus entirely on reviewing for the Mechanical Engineering Board Exam in February 2027.
Questions for the community:
For engineers working in Japan: Did you take your local board exams before moving? Does a PRC license actually give you any advantage for salary or visa sponsorship, or is it 100% about the JLPT?
Is it realistically possible to reach JLPT N3 by this December if I enroll in an intensive language school right now, or is 7 months too short?
