Hi all,
I just got a job offer as IT Engineer in japan from a small IT consulting company located in Chuo-ku, tokyo.
As the title says, the gross salary is ¥300K/month (¥222,600 base salary, ¥77,400 fixed overtime allowance), with ¥20K/month transport allowance, and 1x bonus each year. I think the salary is a bit too low for an IT job in tokyo. So I have a few questions.
- Can I live comfortably in tokyo with that amount of money?
- Should I negotiate for a bigger salary? and how much should I ask? (I'm a bit afraid of asking too much, because I don't want them to withdraw the offer)
For context, I'm a 24M indonesian with Bachelor degree in computer science, and I have ~2 years of experience working as software engineer in Indonesia. I also have JLPT N3 certifications.
I would love to give more details if needed.
Any advice would be great. Thank you in advance.
