it’s not my first time in tokyo but will definitely be my last time staying at Hotel Gracery Shinjuku ホテルグレイスリー新宿.
on april 24, 2026 we checked into the hotel room only to find black/orange mold surrounding the sink drain, vanity corners, shower doors and faucet head. after immediately contacting front desk they arranged for us to stay on the 12 floor again but in another unit (1207).
the inspection appeared “adequate” at first, after only inspecting the sink area. we return to the hotel room later that night when i was astonished at the condition of the showers. i forgot to take pictures of the shower head but there was so much mineral and mold buildup inside the nozzles, i was disgusted the entirety of my shower.
i contacted front desk again the next morning explaining the situation; conceirge shows up for me to examine the new room and brings me up to the 21st floor. i was told this was the floor with “new” shower heads that are cleaner. the bathroom was cleaner but still moldy?? i pointed out the mold to the conceirge only to be told that i can continue to have them arrange different rooms for me but the issue will still stand. so i asked “are you saying that every room has mold?”, he reluctantly nods. speechless at his response and method of handling this issue i end up agreeing.
speaking to the manager, he says that it isn’t the cleaners fault since they’ve been open for business the past 10 years and that the conceirge acted correctly since there apparently is mold in every room – unbelievable for a 4-5 maybe even 3 star hotel to which he responds “we have no stars”.
bringing me to my last point, the godzilla terrance isn’t even open to the public which makes me believe this whole “godzilla” hotel is another tourist scam and gimmick
i only want to bring attention to this issue, i will not be naming anyone since it is a collective problem but i am leaving a review since this a very serious health and hygiene concern.
tldr: there’s mold in every room, management acknowledges that an issue is present yet takes no action to resolve this concern. save your money to shop instead
