Budget as a Student in Tokyo

Hi guys,

I’m currently trying to organize an academic year abroad as a Freemover/Visiting student in Japan.

Things are going pretty well right now, and it looks like I'll be spending my semesters abroad in Tokyo. I would lie if I said that I’m not ecstatic but I am pretty worried because I know that Tokyos the most expensive city in Japan. Has anyone spent some time or a year in Tokyo on a budget and can share their experiences? I’ll probably have a budget of about 130,000 to 140,000 yen per month for living expenses—is that enough for a student who doesn’t lead a particularly extravagant lifestyle?
