Edit: that title should be kids’ names smh
I’m a permanent resident holder in Japan facing divorce. I have two teenage kids with my Japanese (soon to be ex) wife. According to her, since I have no Koseki, the children (now using my last name) will change to her last name when she changes back after we divorce. They can change back at age 20 on their own volition.
Internet searches say that children’s names aren’t necessarily affected in a divorce. I’m trying to get more info before consulting with a legal expert. Anyone have knowledge or experience?
