No Degree, But 10+ Years Work Experience.

Hey all, I guess it’s my turn for this type of post.

Im 32, and I have been working in banking/finance for 12 years now. I never got my degree when I was younger because my career took off. I’m in a relatively high management position (Director of a Financial Crimes Department at a Bank).

I have been considering moving to Japan for sometime now and I want to get people’s thoughts on how difficult it would be for someone in my position without a degree.

Some details about everything:
– Currently live in America.
– Have been working in banking/finance for 12 years and am in a high back office management role (Director)
– My goal would be to move to Japan in about ~3 years.
– I am currently enrolled at a university while still working full time, planning on getting my Associates in Japanese Language within 24 months.
– I plan on getting as much understanding of the language as I can before I move there, hopefully achieving N2 levels.
– I have a good amount of money set aside so moving there wouldn’t be a financial disaster, and could likely buy a home versus rent.

I guess I just want perspective on how difficult this would be since I don’t have a degree, and maybe hear some thoughts from people who have moved to Japan in their 30s or later in life.
