My husband and I plan on visiting in late October/early November so I'm finally putting some more effort into research for this trip. Here are some of our more important things we're considering when booking a hotel:
-
Demographics: We are a couple in our 30s with no kids. We can stay up late and have plenty of energy. We want our time in Tokyo to be well worth our once in a lifetime trip.
-
Ease of travel: We want to be able to take a train or easily visit many of the different areas of Tokyo. So wherever we stay has to be near enough to a train station that can connect us to the rest of the prefecture/city itself.
-
Nightlife: We're interested in nightlife but a more laid back style. Think bars and fun restaurants over clubbing and parties. Open late is good, but nothing too loud. Something to eat/drink/shop until we're ready to go back to the hotel for the night.
-
Budget: The airfare alone is going to eat up a good amount of our budget for this trip so we want to make sure the hotel we choose is affordable without being run down or dirty. Budget hotels are nice, we don't need a bougie area with fancy new hotels.
I've heard good things about Shibuya, Ueno, Ginza, and Asakasa but I'm not well informed enough to know more.
Anyone had a good experience with where they stayed that matches up with what we're looking for?
