I need advice/anecdotes from anyone who has been through this. Asking for a friend.
The situation: his USA passport had been updated to show correct gender marker when he first came to Japan, so zairyu card, health insurance etc. was all filed properly as M.
When he got his passport renewed recently, due to the new Trump policy, his passport was forcibly changed to F.
Now he needs to renew his zairyu card, and is worried they will take issue with the change, including changing his zairyu card gender marker to F, which might then also affect his health insurance etc.
Has anyone been through this? What did you do? How far did it affect your registrations here in Japan?
