I'm blessed to have a few communities that are greatly supportive of me during my first year living in Oki.
There are two dojos– one thoroughly Ryukyu, another for foreigners.
There are two Igo communities — a Kaikan, and a class at the community center.
There are two conversation groups at different community centers.
Each space has instructors or facilitators, as well as informal senior members who do coaching in soft spaces. Everyone's a teacher.
The internet says appreciative gift giving takes place in August. When, though?
I'm thinking of doing communal gifts for each group. Maybe a snack? Would it be appropriate, or not, to give a separate gift to the leader?
What considerations should I have in mind to show appreciation without being weird about it?
