I’m a 22-year-old guy from India working in the creative field as a video editor / motion designer, and recently I’ve been seriously thinking about moving to Japan for work and a better future.
I wanted to ask people who are already living or working there:
Which cities or areas in Japan are best for creative jobs like video editing, motion graphics, advertising, content creation, etc.?
Which companies are good for foreigners in this field?
Is the pay actually worth it compared to the cost of living?
How difficult is it for foreigners (especially Indians) to get hired in creative industries there?
Do I absolutely need fluent Japanese, or can I survive with English in this field?
What are the biggest complications or struggles foreign creatives face in Japan?
How is the work culture for video editors/creative people there? (work-life balance, overtime, pressure, etc.)
Also realistically, how much salary per month would someone need to live a decent life in Japan? I’m not talking luxury, but also not struggling every month just to survive.
Would really appreciate honest advice from people already there because I’m trying to decide whether this move would actually be worth it long-term.
