Hello all
I will be going on a solo trip to Japan for about 10 days total mid to late July. I have planned some parts of this, but wanted to get an extra opinion.
Tokyo for two days after landing.
Train to Kyoto for three days.
The original plan was to go to Osaka from Kyoto for several days and then return from there to Tokyo for several days at the end of the trip. however, on doing a little bit more research I’m not sure that Osaka is necessarily the best place for me to stay for multiple days. I appreciate that it is a large bustling city but I am more nature inclined and I think that Tokyo will be sufficient for me to get a city experience (yes, understanding that Osaka and Tokyo are different).
I was curious whether a convenient trip to somewhere in the mountains could be considered. It seems like getting from Kyoto to Kamikochi is relatively straightforward And there are hikes that can be done there. Mount Koya also seemed doable although this seemed more like a traditional spiritual experience rather than lots of hiking.
I thought about flying to Hokkaido or something, but didn’t want to complicate my trip too much.
What are the general thoughts about skipping Osaka for Kamikochi for those of us that are more nature inclined? Does this seem reasonable given what the weather will be like?
I had also considered doing Mount Fuji, and at least climbing to one of the camps but then switched to just taking the train to Kawaguchiko Instead.
