  1. Wait till June and you’ll see them in Shimamura and other casual clothes store. Until then, amazon.

  2. Most department stores (especially the minor Daie type ones) will carry them too. Donki will have them as well.

  3. When the searingly hot days of August hit, with the screeching of the cicadas in the background, wear it around your neighborhood, sipping a chuhai, fanning yourself…this is the way.

  4. My husband found his on rakuten—there’s really great selection there (especially compared to Amazon).

  5. Don Quijote, Uniqlo, … Basically almost every place that sells clothing will have them once temperatures start rising

  6. anywhere that sells 和服 really. i’ve had luck at nakano broadway and around asakusa, etc.

  7. They’ll be sold from late May, I think.
If you want to buy a good one, you can find some at a big department store, like Daimaru, Takashimaya, and Sogo. It costs about 5000 – 10000 yen.

I recommend you to buy one at a discount shop such as Don Quijote or a retail store like UNIQLO. It costs about 1000 – 3000 yen.

  8. Am I a grumpy old man for finding the casual toilet/6 year old humour in this sub back-breakingly cringeworthy…

  9. I always buy the cheap Donki ones, but they usually only last a year or two for me.

I reckon I’m going to buy a nicer one this year.

  10. I bought a simple one from Amazon to use as a costume for a Japanese stage play. It was still pretty comfortable and probably is my favourite traditional Japanese outfit.

  11. Donki has nice 100% cotton ones. Konan as well, although they’re sorta hidden among the regular racks of clothes.
