Hi, so I am currently in Japan trying to transfer from a student visa to a work visa.
I went through the interview process with Interac and was told in December that I was added to a “domestic hiring pool”. I’m not willing to relocate due to me living with my boyfriend, but I am willing to commute and they said that was feasible…but I’m thinking that’s why I wasn’t guaranteed a position.
Basically they sent me an email in the middle of January saying they sent out proposals to schools and will notify us soon. I sent a follow up email in February to check and they said they will find out on February 29th which positions are open and will notify us a few weeks after that.
My problem is that my visa expires on March 15th. I’m a little anxious that they will string me along and then not hire me last minute.
Does anyone else have experience with this hiring pool? Is a position almost always guaranteed or is it more like a backup waiting list? I am interviewing for other positions at the moment so that I have a safety net because I’m a little anxious to wait that long and also my school is hounding me to have proof of employment lined up.
Thanks in advance!!
