I know this might be weird, but I really like Hokkaido University’s Modern Japanese Studies Program and I would love to apply, despite of having a Masters in psychology, I am also doing really well in my field ATM. My major pointers are –
1. I will learn the language as a part of the course
2. I want to learn the Japanese psyche and history
3. I have always wanted to study abroad and maybe eventually settle in Japan so a good foot in the door?
4. Not in the mood for PHD currently, also haven’t heard good stuff about the research scene in Japan
What do you guys suggest? Worth it or just a mid-life crisis?

You can already get a job in Japan since you have a masters. This course will benefit you in no way. If you want to move to Japan before looking at getting a job, go to language school, and learn the language in 2 years instead of 4.
