Long time Japan resident here. I was in Kyoto this week and saw a (presumably Japanese) man in the shotengai in the middle of the night wearing trashbags as both clothing and shoes. He was also carrying an armload of clean trashbags. Understandably I was both terrified and fascinated. Is this guy a known phenomenon or did I see some kind of insane one-off modern art performance? A cursory google search doesn't seem to tell me much.
