Hi everyone,
I’m an incoming ALT from Texas. I’m not sure what kinds of items to bring with me.
The things I can think of are a cowboy hat, boots, western wear (chaps, spurs), etc. Texas also has German and Mexican influences. I don’t have any boots or western wear. I /could/ buy some, but I would only use it the one time for self-introduction. Not to mention hats and boots can be exorbitantly expensive. I was thinking about bringing a Polaroid camera and cutting out paper props, but I’m going to be at 4 different schools with many kids, so that’s probably not feasible. (Maybe I could print out paper props still??)
My predecessor is from the Philippines and wore her traditional clothing. I could lean more towards American clothing, but what’s traditional? American clothing to me is t-shirts and jeans. I don’t feel comfortable wearing indigenous clothing. Do y’all have any ideas? I’ll have a map and pictures for my PowerPoint but I can’t think of more tangible things. TIA
