Hey all! I'm currently hanging around the murky N4-N3 waters, and have been learning for about 4 years.
I booted up the new Fortnite season and was very very impressed! There is real kanji all over the map (I thought maybe they would cop out and use only katakana/hiragana, or reuse the same kanji over an over as more of a decoration) but no, it's all over and thought out. Espeically in the city areas- there's full billboards, today it helped me learn the word for geothermal energy plant- 地熱(ちねつ) エネルギー!
They also are infusing this season with some cool Japanese culture, going deeper than just ninja & samurai etc. There is a character that features Kitsugi, calligraphy emotes, the sprays are woodblock inspiried (which honestly who likes sprays? But these are actually neat), Nou masks & cool cultural spots like fish markets and shrines.
And there's GODZILLA!
Highly recommend for casual immersion, don't listen to the haters, there's tons of different types of people who play Fortnite. I'm a woman in her 30s for example. For a harder experience, try changing your default language to Japanese in the settings menu.
またね!♡
