How does the translation from ringotan (and similar phone screen writing apps) translate to actual handwriting?

I asked a question about handwriting and several people answered about ringotan. It seems really good, but i'm wondering if using my thumb to write on my phone is actually going to translate to handwriting? I'm learning to write for language school. Let me know your experiences.
