Edited to update Thank you so much for everyone's input! I feel so much better have made the decision to stay and monitor the storm for the next 4-5 days and re-evaluate as it gets closer.
I am staying near Nago Pineapple Park and see that there now is likely a typhoon coming. I'm trying to decide if I should forfeit my rental car and 7 nights of the apartment rental to leave Okinawa altogether. My concern is more safety. I don't plan on swimming. I just wanted to drive around and see the beaches from land and eat local food (in the rain is ok). I also was in an APA hotel in Tokyo when typhoon Hagabis hit a while back and I felt safe, but I'm feeling a little nervous being on an island staying away from a big city. Should I ride it out or leave the island before it potentially hits? Any info that will help my decision will be helpful!
