Greetings everyone! I am stationed in Okinawa and moved here with my cat. Process wasn’t bad as he was great on flights in cabin but did not like the boarding place he stayed in while I secured housing. He was very distressed and aggressive towards me and workers and I never want to put him through that again
I will be deploying next year for 6 months and it’s got me concerned on his care. I know there are resources state side but aside from Facebook groups and asking people I know I’m at a loss. I considered flying him back to states to stay with family or friends but with cost of that and logistics and process of bringing him back with Japan’s strict pet import rules not sure I want to go through that .
I think he will be best in his home and having someone visit every couple of days. I’m nervous about having someone stay in my place and he does better with women rather than men.
I’ve never been in this position before but I want to ask if anyone has experience with this. Tips, tricks and suggestions especially specific to Japan would be helpful. I am also considering having a POA drafted up with documents to safeguard him and me. I also worry he will not be the same when I come back. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
Loving cat mom
