Hello community,
Looking for advice from someone who is a GovCon, in Okinawa. It’s not a GS position.
Here are my questions:
- do you have to pay taxes to Japan?
-what’s a furnished condo or apartment, or even house for a single person, going to cost me? I want something nice, as I would be there full time.
-I’ll have base access, so do you recommend buying groceries on base or off? While I love food cultures, at the end of the day, American food is what I would prolly feel my fridge with. Local cuisine would be something I would get on the weekend or take out. I can’t cook for shit.
-vehicle. I’ll be given money to relocate, is getting a vehicle terribly hard. I’ve decided against shipping a vehicle as my truck is big and I would have a nightmare on inspection and parking it.
If anyone can recommend a nice apartment or condo complex it would be greatly appreciated.

Note* I’ve been working in and out of Okinawa, a few weeks at a time and Airbnb it. But I will be moving there full time very soon.
