We are contemplating having two homes, one on the west coast of N.America (Seattle or Victoria) and the other in Japan.
My partner says she has heard that the Atami area can be rather 'dangerous' and I am pretty sure she means floods and such.
I saw that they had a landslide in 2021 (looked intense) but other than that I don't see much in the way of natural disasters. I know it abuts a mountainous region so I get the flood thing but is it really that bad or just one bad event?
And for those who live, or have lived in the area — how's life? And since I am gaijin, how is life for gaijin.
We see that there is a medical university in the area so that is good, (for her Sensei work) we also want to be relatively close to Tokyo so the JR stop there seems quite convenient.
Is there a dish that Atami is known for? Like Nagoya ebifry?
We will be there Christmas Day + 1 before heading back to Tokyo.
Thanks in advance
