Tinnitus specialists

Does anyone have recommendations for a hospital or clinic for tinnitus? If it requires an introduction letter I'll see what I can get. I've searched online and been to a couple, but I basically got a hearing test and that they couldn't do anything, but recommended background noise. I have this high pitched whine in both ears, and I have for a long time, but it's gotten worse and affecting my work and sleep and starting to drive me a little crazy. I'm getting a little desperate to try and find some help. I didn't see any previous posts in subreddit.

Doesn't matter if they don't speak English. I'm ok with doctors that only speak Japanese.

  1. Can’t help you with a specialist rec, but usually you can just go to a clinic without a letter in Japan. Also, I have periodic tinnitus and as bizarre as this is going to sound, I can often make it go away by doing the following-

Cover your ears with your palms, fingers on the back of your skull, and drum the back of your head (not super hard but so it resonates) for like 15-30 seconds or so. If it hasn’t faded completely do it again. Don’t know if it’ll work for you but it’s been such a game changer for me so worth a shot!

  2. I’m sorry I can’t answer your question but I’m just wondering if you are on any medications or supplements specially anything that works with serotonin?
I take supplements. If I over do it on supplements that effect serotonin I will get tinnitus.

Another thing that I get it from is certain foods. Possibly allergy related or neurotransmitter related. Certain things like

    Maca x CBD together

    Vinegar

    Egg whites

    Homemade mayonnaise

And a huge, huge, huge culprit is tea.

Drinking tea very much worsens my tinnitus.

I know I sound like a crazy person but until you’ve found a doctor you may consider that something in your diet could be causing it or making it worse than it is.

After cutting out whatever is causing it it takes a few days for the worsened tinnitus to subside. So it could be a trial and error thing.

I’m thinking that some of my tinnitus is in some part related to a salicylate allergy. salicylates are included in tea and vinegar and basically everything that I love. So it really sucks.

I think I’m getting too much in my diet and supplements.

This is a short article about common foods with salicylate… Be warned.. They are all delicious. salicylates are found in foods and it is the active ingredient in aspirin.

    Here’s another
The active ingredient in aspirin, salicylate, is a commonly used antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory drug. However, consumption in large doses (6-8 gm/ day) 1 is widely known to induce hearing loss and tinnitus

This may or may not be helpful.

Hopefully you find the care you need.
