I've been selected for a semester abroad at Kyushu university, starting in fall 2025. I hadn't really looked into it as I expected to go to Tokyo, but now I'm doing some research on Kyushu, Fukuoka and surroundings.
– is it a good place to spend 5 months as a student, or will I get bored?
– which attractions or "must-do" do you recommend, both in Fukuoka and other cities in the island?
– is it doable to travel to Tokyo or other major cities? I've seen cheap flights both for Tokyo and Seoul, Korea.
– is it well connected with public transport? i would love to visit the natural landscapes, such as waterfalls and mountains, but I can't rent a car.
– is Kyushu island generally cheaper than Tokyo? both in accomodation and life expenses.
– anyone that has some experience with Kyushu's campus?
sorry for asking so many questions, I'm very excited and don't know anyone who's been there.
