Hi! I'm moving to Japan in 3 weeks on a working holiday visa. I'll be there for 6 months.
I feel prepared and am just waiting it out now, but I woke up in a panic last night worrying about whether I'm missing something important or not. Wanted to run what I've done by you all to see if you can think of anything I'm missing. Here's what I've done:
- Set up a sharehouse stay
- Gotten my visa (obviously)
- Have a Mobal eSIM with voice + data ready to go
- I have a Wise card loaded with yen that I am hoping to use instead of a bank account (will set up Japan Post account if I absolutely need to)
- I have my trusty Pasmo card that I've used in the past
- I've received the Visit Japan Web QR code
- I've gotten a Yunyu Kakunin-Sho for my medication and contact lenses
When I get there, I have on my agenda:
– Register my address and register for NHI
– File for pension exemption
Anything else I'm missing? Anything you'd recommend I do before leaving/within my first few days of getting there?
Thank you so much!
