Hi everyone!
I'm moving to the Nagoya area for work in a few months time and while I've been studying Japanese on my own thus far, I've been told that I can expense Japanese lessons to the company. I don't actually know what the budget is for this yet, they told me to find a quote and they'll approve it or not (sigh).
So far I've done a few iTalki lessons here and there on my own dime, mostly with community tutors. I am looking for something more structured and to push me to achieve as much as I can in the time I have left before I get there. I'm currently working through N4 material. I'm doubtful I can achieve N3 level by the July 2025 JLPT but I'd like to study pretending it was possible and see how far I can get. I would also want to continue lessons after work hours or weekends while I'm living in the Nagoya area, as well.
So I'm curious if anyone has tried any agencies? If I ask, I might be able to do a couple weeks worth of in-person intensive before I start work but I would only be able to do week nights and/or weekends once I start working.
Or, if iTalki seems like it would be perfectly fine, please let me know, as well. I'd appreciate advice on how to select a good tutor for more focused learning since I'm on a tight schedule.
I've also seen courses on business Japanese. Do you think that is worth my time or should I just continue with normal Japanese courses? I'm afraid I might end up spending time on a business Japanese course that ends up being a subset of what I'm already doing rather than a useful supplement.
Thanks for any help with this!
