Hello!
I currently hold citizenship in one country and am planning to apply for a work visa in Japan. At the same time, I have started the application process for U.S. citizenship. I’m trying to understand how to navigate this situation effectively.
If I receive the Japanese work visa while holding my current citizenship, will the visa be tied to that citizenship? If I later renounce my original citizenship, will the visa be canceled? I understand that Japan does not allow dual citizenship, while the U.S. does. Since a work visa is temporary and not permanent residency, would Japan still require me to revoke one of my citizenships in this case?
Would it be better to wait until I obtain U.S. citizenship and then apply for the Japanese work visa under my new nationality? I’d appreciate any guidance on how to proceed.
