isolation moving from america to japan?

i really hope this doesn’t sound redundant
i’m studying abroad in tokyo for a few months and i was wondering if it felt isolating to anyone going from american culture to japanese culture, especially in little things like small talk, holding the door open for people, etc. as far as i’m aware while it’s standard in america it’s not much of a thing in japan. was this switch hard for people to get used to or did it feel natural since it’s the norm? i’m already a bit worried since i don’t know anyone else who’s going to my school lol
