Hello everybody! Going to do some explaining before I jump into my intentions with this post real quick. The company I work for has an international exchange program of which id really like to join, however I have lived in the US my entire life and have hardly even travelled out of my home state (this is mostly in part with my parents not travelling very much and I've been in college.) Of the countries available I have had my eyes on 2 in particular; those being Japan and Germany. Germany I have ancestral ties to and I have basic conversational skills in German. Japan on the other hand is more in the line of something I've wanted for a long while now. From its deep rooted history, beautiful scenery, and from what I've been told delicious food, it has been a bucket list place for me to live. On the contrary, I have only lived alone for 6 months now, and I would find the move to prove even more difficult if I left my home country only knowing limited Japanese and only my co-workers. I would be in between Tokyo and Yokohama for work. As far as living I would have a relocation bonus and so expenses aren't my #1 concern. Any and all help in finding a way to meet people would be very much appreciated. I'm 23 and while I've only travelled in the US I love travelling and would like this to be my first major step toward my goal in life. Thank you!
TL;DR: What is a way to make friends/meet people online from a foreign country before you go to said foreign country?
