I am an expat living in Saudi Arabia. I've applied for admission to an English-taught undergraduate program at Kyushu University. Their admission guide says I must show a minimum of ¥960,000 for obtaining a student visa.
I'll be needing bank statements by April, three months from now.
My mom's account has ¥4,900,000 but she's paying off some loans right now such that it'll have around ¥2,500,000 by the time I need to show the statements, so while it'll have the larger sum in the end there's gonna be that steady decrease every month visible in the statements.
My brother's account has ¥1,300,000 and it'll have the same amount in the end, but he has spent about ¥1,000,000 from that account in the past two months.
These are my questions:
1) In what ways would my visa process be more complicated due to the bank account being based in a country different than where I'm applying from?
2) Which account from the two do you suggest I show?
3) Since both of those accounts aren't under my name, what sort of documents, if any, will be needed to prove ownership of the funds or that the account owner is my real sponsor?
Thank you all so much for the responses!

When I did my visa they required 3 months worth of bank statements prior to the application date. I think they look more to see that the funds are cleared (not just gifts from friends/family that could ask for it back as soon as your visa is approved).
I had 2 etransfers (Canadian “wire” transfer) that were not in my name that I was questioned about that wasn’t my personal income. I had to prove that it was my money and didn’t belong to someone else, right there on the spot.
If the accounts are in your name, that’s fine, but you may face difficulties if they ask you questions about the income sources (if they are not your income but your brother and mothers).
I’m not sure how this works with visa sponsorship as I came on my own with my own bank statements that noone has access too except me.
Either way, good luck!
