- Shota Umino beat the top four scorers in his block (and lost to everyone else in it)
- Umino was also the only member of A block to beat all three of the people who advanced from the block
- Hirooki Goto and Yuya Uemura both beat all three people who advanced from the block (which is a huge part of why they got so much momentum during the tournament)
- David Finlay won his second block in a row
- This (I believe) is the first G1 where both blocks were won by foreigners
- Narita and EVIL practically had the same run in terms of overall performance – both got 10 points, both came in 4th place in their block, and both lost to the top 3 in their block as well as a Hontai underdog (EVIL lost to Umino, Narita lost to Boltin)
- Both sides of the playoff bracket had 1 repeat result and 1 different result – Shingo beat O-Khan and Tsuji beat Finlay (repeats), & Zack beat Shingo and Tsuji beat Takeshita (firsts for the tournament)
I don't know how relevant any of these things are/will be to the future, but I felt that they were interesting when looking back on it
