For context, I am a 24 y/o first generation Japanese American born in Hawaii (Both parents are Japanese) with a bachelors degree in International Studies. I have dual citizenship to both the US and Japan. Though my Japanese Isn't fluent it is at the N2 level. Since graduating last year, I was hoping to make the jump to move to Japan, in the Osaka region where my girlfriend lives.
Currently I am planning on making the official move July of this year, but I have some doubts. One of them is being able to find a stable job. My Japanese girlfriend has been saying since I am technically a Japanese citizen and fluent in english it should be relatively easy to find a job, but after studying abroad I noticed that many Japanese people have some pretty good english and was wondering if being bilingual is something I can leverage in the job field. And if so what jobs should I be primarily looking for?
I was looking towards maybe leaning myself towards English teaching/ALTing in the beginning for a year until I can settle in. During my second interview with AEON, I was also rejected due to wanting to live in a different apartment. Is it like that for all other english teaching jobs? How easy is it to secure an English teaching or ALT position in the Osaka region as a Japanese citizen? Lastly, is there any potential challenges or implications I should know about before moving to Japan? Thanks~
