Dealing with sensitive topics during the interview?

So one thing I'm scared shitless about is questions about the atom bomb, slavery, indigenous people in the USA, etc. SF consulate if that matters.

I'm thinking of all these ideas thinking about talking about the USA, our history, etc that are all positive but I have two major concerns

  1. I'm not sure what kinds of answers they're looking for if they ask me "what will you say if a students asks you about the bomb, slavery, etc."
  2. I'm also not sure if it would highly offend the consulate if I don't talk about the evil aspects of American history if I'm going to talk about the united states etc. I want to have a positive tone, talk about how cool the country is, etc. but I also don't want the panelists to get pissed off if I don't mention how the USA was founded on stolen tribal lands, subjugated human beings to slavery, etc.

Does anyone have any advice on this? I know a lot of the other interview questions don't have a "right" answer, but i feel like how to address questions like these in a teaching setting in Japan might have a proper answer. If it were up to me I'd say how evil all the things America did were and we must never repeat them, but I'm not sure if that's the correct approach. would love some pointers
