Hello I am a 3rd year Maritime student and planning on taking my cadetship on Japan. I am currently learning Japanese which my school offer (foreign language) I just want to ask how hard is it to get a deck cadet position for a domestic Japanese vessel? Or is it even possible for non-Japanese to be on a domestic vessel? From what I know, not a lot of Japanese are taking this career path (Maritime) and they are currently trying to find employees from foreign country. Btw is there like any site where can I apply or inquire? Thank you

Look at Singapore as a base. It’s arguably SEAs maritime hub.
The big shipping companies in Japan bring in a lot of maritime crew from overseas, I would check with them.
Japanese skill isn’t particularly required.
