I know Japan doesn’t have a retirement visa and the last thing Japan needs is more old people but I am fantasizing about retiring early and moving to Japan from the U.S. to retire.
Neither my wife or I are Japanese. We are learning Japanese and will hopefully be high intermediate level by the time I retire at age 59.
We would prefer the city over the country. Someplace where is not car dependent and we can walk or train to many places. Yokohama is high on the list as we have friends there.
As far as visas go, we could probably do the business manager visa and buy a few properties for a rental business but I have no interest in full time work.
Curious if anyone here has moved to Japan to retire and pros and cons of doing so.
