Hey guys, I just moved to Shin-Osaka and got told that it's mostly a more boring district, where business man live. The first couple days seem to approve that imo. But are there other sides in the area of Shin-Osaka where for example students from Osaka University are going or general an area that seems more urban like Namba?
Appreciate your help!

No.
Shin Osaka is the definition of boring business district.
Depending on where you are, however, you can walk to Minami-gata for some nightlife. Not much, but there’s some good stuff there.
The area around nearby Higashi-Mikuni station has a bit more going on, but not much more. You’d be better off hopping on the train up to Esaka (more urban) or Minoh-semba Handai-mae (where the university campus is).
On the plus side, it has a huge Life supermarket
I used to live in Shin Osaka. There was a bar with lots of punks and rockers named jet bar.
Besides that there’s not really much, it’s mostly for salarymen.
Umeda is close enough where it’s worth going. One hour walk home or 2000jpy taxi if you miss the last train.
If you go west toward Hankyu Mikuni, it’s not a business area at all, but a residential area. However, a young person like you will probably find the area (mainly for families) boring.
Those who say Shin Osaka is where business men live don’t really know the area. 🤷🏻♀️
There are a lot of izakayas south of Shin Osaka Station or Nishi Nakajima. That’s where business men hang out after work. There are tons of very popular/well known ramen joints in the area.
Higashi Mikuni is where younger people/couples live cuz it’s more affordable. There are many new restaurants and cafes in that area.
If you’re looking for a place like Namba (or more like Ura Namba), you could try Juso, but it’s much smaller.
