HELP Anki japanese support add-on creates a permanent “processing” pop-up that doesn’t let me use Anki unless I reboot it

Until a few months ago I used the Japanese support for adding furigana just fine, but now every time I try to use it, it makes my Anki crash. It opens a pop up stating it's processing, even though the furigana has already been added. The only way to close the pop-up is by closing Anki altogether (using ctrl alt delete) and restarting the whole process.

I have already tried the basic things such as rebooting the computer, trying to update things, trying to reinstall things, etc. does anyone know why this may be happen and what can I do to fix it?
