For JHS/SHS teachers or ALTs, does anyone find that the textbooks (New Horizon, Sunshine…) have very unnatural conversation patterns and grammar examples?

It hit me just before summer break how bad some of these conversations between the characters are. Clunky sentence structure, weird vocab choices, everything just feels…off? Does anyone else agree these books do not provide an accurate representation of the English language?
