- Health Insurance Requirement – I heard that the embassy may require proof of private insurance coverage for the entire stay. Is this necessary? Since Japan provides National Health Insurance (NHI) for long-term visa holders, would private insurance still be required?
- Application Timing – I recently returned from Japan 2 weeks ago after a 3-month stay as a tourist. Is there a required waiting period before I can apply for the WHV as a Canadian passport holder?
- Housing Contract – If I want to rent an apartment in Japan, would it be easier for my Japanese citizen SO to contact the realtor, sign the contract, and have me provide the money for rent? Or would I have similar chances of securing the contract myself, with my SO acting as my guarantor?
