Hey peeps! Studied with a tutor years ago and flew through genki I and II fairly easily. Felt pretty good about it, and continued with Tobira for a small while before stopping.
Well, years later and I have a Japanese wife, and we use Japanese for more than half of our convos, but mine is (unsurprisingly) pretty broken with my peak being a few chapters of Tobira lol.
I'd like to rectify that, though Tobira was a bit rough and I figured I'd try the intermediate version of Genki, Quartet.
So, with that preface I just want to say, holy hell did I miss something? A lot of people have said quartet is pretty much the natural next step after genki II, and I understand theres a lot less hand holding, but dear God I feel like in every sentence there's at least one new word that isn't in the vocab lists along with some grammar I've never seen.
I'm just curious to know how y'all who are further along got through this. I'm very comfortable speaking, but that's mainly because my conversations have been about pretty similar things for years (household tasks, work, etc)
