Been looking over my SOP and I'm wondering how much I should mention as to why I want to go to Japan to become an ALT. From my understanding, the SOP functions as a cover letter so obviously the people at JET don't want me droning on about why I like the country – frankly they probably already know I do like it given I've spent so much time applying to be an ALT. But I'm wondering if I haven't mentioned it enough. The reasoning I gave as to why I want to go to Japan was two lines in my introduction where I said something to the gist of "being interested in Japan from childhood because my dad worked there in his twenties and had good things to say and I want to follow in his footsteps in this regard". Is this a valid reason or should I place a bit more emphasis?
