Hello everyone!
I’m a Software Engineer from Italy, currently living in the UK, with 7 years of experience—primarily in frontend but with some backend experience as well. I’m seriously considering moving to Japan and would love some advice.
My plan is to apply through JapanDev and similar platforms, ideally for a job that offers relocation support, visa sponsorship, and doesn’t require Japanese (though I’m happy to start learning and improving once I’m there). However, I won’t be fluent before moving.
-
Given my experience, do you think this is a realistic goal? Are there any important steps I should take to improve my chances? I’ve read that JapanDev and recruitment agencies are the best ways to find opportunities—are there any other resources I should check out?
-
I’d love to work a 4-day week to have more time to experience Japan and its culture. Is this something that’s realistically possible in the Japanese job market?

What are the key steps from zero to get a visa and moving to Japan? Any advice on how to approach the process efficiently?
Any insights, recommendations, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
