Visa requirements for my school course are ruining my plans

I am currently in the process of applying to ISI school in kyoto for a 2 year course; I've been doing well with gogonihon up until this point but they have sprung on me that I need to have two years of uninterupted work as well as the finances available; I have well over £400K in available funds, and I was told by someone at the school that having very high savings means the work requirement is unnecessary. However gogonihon is being very stubborn with this requirement, now demanding I will need a family member to sponsor me; none of my family would even fit the work requirement, and it doesn't make sense with the amount of funding I have available! I'm starting to get very worried,as I feel I've been told different things! Any advise? Cheers.
