In response to user feedback, this is a recurring thread for general discussion about learning Japanese, and for asking your questions about grammar, learning resources, and so on. Let's come together and share our successes, what we've been reading or watching and chat about the ups and downs of Japanese learning.
The /r/Japanese rules (see here) still apply! Translation requests still belong in /r/translator and we ask that you be helpful and considerate of both your own level and the level of the person you're responding to. # Question Regarding JLPT 1
Hello everyone, I have been learning (immersing myself is more 適切) Japanese for over 3 years extensively, mostly by talking with friends, gf, watching actual (non-Japanese study) videos, reading novels, etc. and would say that I am pretty fluent (especially when it comes to speaking, listening, and reading). I have never really had a goal of getting a JLPT certification but there is a chance I might move to Japan for work-related stuff in the future, so I have decided to take part in the upcoming one.
I took a practice test today and scored the following 29/45 vocab, 20/24 reading, 33/35 listening. denominator is the total questions for that section and numerator is the number of questions I got correct.
I just wanted to ask your opinion on whether these scores would be satisfactory or if I should try to improve them to get a higher success chance. If it is the latter, would you have any recommendations on what I could potentially use? I am currently thinking of just taking the practice tests out there and learning from the questions I get incorrect, but if there is anything else I should be doing please let me know.
I have never really studied Japanese to get a certification/take a test so anything helps!
I’m a big fan of car racing and I’m curious if anyone here is learning Japanese because they’re into cars like the Skyline GTR or are planning to work in engineering for Honda or Toyota.
It seems like most people are learning Japanese because of anime…
Google isn’t helping, so I wanted to ask if there was a girl name meaning “adventurer” or similar to “traveler”
It’s for writing! Thanks!
