What on earth is up with these Chinese nationalists/commies claiming everything and everyone. I’ve also seen them claiming Jeju island of South Korea very recently when Koreans were complaining about Chinese tourists behavior there.

Even more hilariously, I’ve seen folks on a Chinese app (rednote) claiming that the Sea of Japan (between Japan and South Korea, no China whatsoever) should be renamed either the “Sea of China” or the ancient Chinese of it.

  1. And then there are the claims of “Okinawa, Vietnam, and Korea paid tributes to ancient China and “copied” Chinese culture so they are parts of China” among endless people on Chinese apps. It’s freaking crazy.

    Or that Okinawa should be freed by China from Japanese and American imperialism… don’t they literally have Tibet, Xinjiang, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the many Chinese-occupied islands in the South China Sea to worry about instead?

    Interesting you chose this example, as there was already a long standing dispute over the name of this sea between Japan and South Korea, with Korea wanting to call it the “East Sea.”

    Wanting to name stuff after yourself is not a new thing.
