Hello!
I just got back from Japan recently, and I’ve been completely obsessed since — everything from the transportation system to the scenery, efficiency, and overall lifestyle really made an impression on me. I was born and raised in NYC, but Japan honestly made the U.S. feel kind of behind in a lot of ways.
Now I’m seriously considering living and working in Japan for a year or two before fully settling down in the States.
I’m currently more than halfway through my Master’s in Public Health (MPH) here in the U.S., and I’ll be graduating in February of next year. So I’m starting to think about my next steps now, and I have a few questions:
- Are there job opportunities in Japan for someone with an MPH from the U.S.?
- Would my degree help improve my chances of getting a work visa?
- What steps should I take now to prepare for this transition?
As for language, I’ve started learning Japanese — just the basics through Duolingo for now (I know it’s not perfect, but it actually helped a bit during my visit). I’m planning to study much more seriously moving forward.
Also:
- Is there a specific language test I’ll need to take to qualify for jobs or a visa?
- Any general advice or resources for someone trying to make this move?
I’d really appreciate any help, advice, or insight. Thanks in advance!
